Public Works Department
The Forest Heights Public Works Department is composed of three employees
including the supervisor, Bill Clarke. The Department is responsible for
the maintenance of the Town's 10 miles of local roads. This excludes the
I-95 Beltway, Indian head Highway and Livingston Road which are the responsibility
of the Maryland State Highway Administration and the P.G. Department of
Public Works and Transportation.
The Public Works Department can be reached by calling (301) 686-1432.
The Public Works Department has at their disposal three pickup trucks, and
3/4 and 1 ton dump trucks equipped with snow plows. You will occasionally
see the yellow and white pickup trucks around the town doing routine maintenance
work such as clearing debris, installing signs and painting roadway markings.
The Public Works Department is under the oversight of the Town Council
Public Works Committee. The Committee members are Anne Reifsneider
(Chair) & Sharon Mc Innis.
Recent Public Works projects include the reconstruction of Talbert Drive
under a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $250,000 from the Federal
Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the repaving of North
Huron Drive using $75,000 of the Town's money. The P.G. County Environmental
Department are completing a flood wall around Forest Heights Elementary
School.
