RESOULUTION 20-07

A RESOLUTION TO ENACT ORDINACE REQUIRING RENTAL PROPERTY

PERMIT IN THE TOWN OF FOREST HEIGHTS

INTRODUCED BY: Councilperson Jacqueline E. Goodall

            WHEREAS, Section 33-20 (a) and 33-20(b)(29) of the Charter of the Town of Forest Heights permits the Town of Forest Heights to establish and collect fees and charges for all licenses and permits issued under the authority of this Charter; and

            NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town of Forest Heights proposes to modify Section 3.2(C ) by striking the following language: To be issued to all property owners whose properties (1) are rental properties or (2) reside in their properties less than six (6) months out of the year. All such property owners shall be required to obtain the Rental Property Permit at an annual cost of $500.00. Rental Property Permit must be obtained from the Town Clerk of Forest Heights not later than May 16, 2006. Failure to obtain permit shall be deemed a municipal infraction and subject to of a fine of $1,000.00.

            AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town of Forest Heights shall modify Section 3.2 of the Code and Ordinances of the Town of Forest Heights by adding the following language C. Rental Property Permits to be issued to all property owners whose properties are (1) rental properties. All such property owners shall be required to obtain the Rental Property Permit from the Town Clerk at an annual cost of $75.00 per year. Rental Property Permits must be obtained from the Town Clerk of Forest Heights not later than September 1, 2007 and annually thereafter. Failure to obtain permit shall be deemed a municipal infraction and subject to a fine of $500.00.;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect immediately upon it's passage and shall remain in effect indefinitely.
