RESOLUTION NO. 7-04


A RESOLUTION TO INCREASE THE

MUNICIPAL UTILITY TAX

ENACTED:


WHEREAS, the Municipal Utility Tax has not been increased since 1999, and is among the lowest in the State of Maryland; and


WHEREAS, the Town of Forest Heights is in need of infrastructure improvements, such as street lighting enhancements and building facilities;


WHEREAS, THE cost of providing Town services has increased;


NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Forest Heights, Maryland that the Municipal Utility Tax rate is hereby increased by $0.36 from $0.58 to $0.94 to provide additional essential revenue to fund its services and repair its infrastructure.


AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall take effect July 1, 2004.
